Get to Know Us
Ayahuasca Rao Family
Location
We are nestled in virgin jungle, a 1 hour drive outside of the small border town Iberia, Peru with Brazil and Bolivia as our neighbors. The undisturbed peace of this previously untouched section of land combined with the vast array of wildlife and plants creates an incredibly rich, breathtaking atmosphere that helps to foster a deep connection between ourselves and the natural environment. We see ourselves as stewards of this land and seek to preserve, reforest, and learn from the spirits that dwell here so that all of the healing work we do may be aligned on all levels of reality and benefit the highest good of all beings, not just us humans.
Pisac Coordinator Sodani
Sodani began her medicine a few years ago in a search for meaning and perfection in her life. After sitting with a few less than savory maestros, she realized that in order to reach her full potential of service to all living beings in this world she must learn from a teacher that works in integrity with the medicine.

When not singing melodic tunes on her shamanic drum, Sodani enjoys guiding people back to their authentic truth, sipping a refreshingly cold Sprite, and sampling the food delicacies Pisac has to offer.

Her dream is to one day lead an intentional community as the Spider Queen and provide a safe space for all souls that feel called to flourish and evolve into their highest selves.
What Makes Us Different?
We stay true to the traditional Shipibo way of serving Ayahuasca and holding Dietas
Traditional Dietas
We at Ayahuasca Rao believe in holding true to serving and holding dietas in accordance with ancient Shipibo practices passed down from tradition to tradition. In our mission to stay true to these teachings and to serve the healing and study of all those who come to our center, we do not compromise on the integrity of these dietas. We do not provide shortcuts for monetary gain nor do we modify these practices for the sake of satisfying Western curiosity and attracting larger numbers of people.
Personalized
Our dietas are only given to a pasajero following a consultation performed by the Head Shaman. Through this evaluation process, the plants themselves tell Maestro Kestenyoi the specific dieta a pasajero needs in order to heal or advance their study of the medicinal plants.
No Ayahuasca
We keep our dietas clean and pure, intentionally choosing not to mix and cross this deep, intenseive process with the medicine of Ayahuasca. Depending on the lineage, traditionally curanderos would generally choose to either open and close dietas with Ayahuasca, close dietas with Ayahuasca, give Ayahuasca halfway through a dieta, or at the most, give Ayahuasca once or twice every 15 days during a dieta. Here at Ayahuasca Rao, we do not serve Ayahuasca during one's dieta. After the dieta is closed there is a personal Ayahuasca ceremony for the dietero conducted by the Head Shaman to make any final adjustments. At this point, the dietero may choose to drink the medicine to see for themselves how their dieta went.

Combining numerous Ayahuasca ceremonies with a dieta can be a recipe for disaster especially if the Maestro is not careful to manage the energies of the dieta plant and Ayahuasca. Two very powerful different energies can easily overwhelm an inexperienced dietero and derail their healing or learning process.
Full Length Dietas
2 week dietas for a first time dietero will not be sufficient for their healing or learning. We do not believe in giving dietas for the sake of experimenting or in an attempt to draw pasajeros into coming back for another dieta.

1 month minimum is required for a dietero with no prior experience and there may be additional time or plants depending on what that person needs.
